moose puff: neon moose x ryos blogger dinner

Tues March 18 saw the Neon Moose x Adelaide Dining magazine blogger dinner at Ryo's Noodles. All the usual players [read: food bloggers] came along to feast on some fab dining and blow up social media with their foodie photos.

The setting? Ryo's Noodles on Gouger Street. Think traditional Japanese nosh like ramen soups, chicken curries and dumplings [gyozas].

Even though I organised this dinner, that didn't stop me from eating and writing a quasi-food review [FYI - I used to write food reviews all the time for Rip it Up magazine]. But back to the review.

Being part time vegetarian, I opted for the vegetarian ramen and some pork gyozas [I said I was part time!]. The gyozas arrived first [and rather quickly I might add] glistening in their pan fried [oily] glory. They were cooked to perfection. Which is probably why I devoured seven - straight up! [in my defence I was ravenous!]. The little morsels of pork and spices were definitely a winning entree.

Next up was my main - the BIG bowl of veggie goodness. It had all the usual ramen infrastructure - the perfectly cooked noodles, the egg, the mushrooms, the shallots - hello ramen heaven! I made a fair dent in it, but still couldn't finish it [maybe because I just inhaled seven dumplings?].

But I'll be back [to finish my ramen bowl]. Because it was unanimous around the long table of 18 x food aficionados - Ryo's Noodles has a lot to Ryo about [sorry]. Like good value and good taste. But the best thing? You always feel so HEALTHY eating Japanese food. And Ryo's was no exception.

Side note: There'll be a few more blogger dinners on the boil too - so if you're a restaurant I highly recommend throwing one - the amount of coverage your business receives on social media is phenomenal!
